You’re standing on a small wooden platform, in the midst of towering pines.

You’re at the top of a ravine. The hillside falls steeply to a glinting stream, a hundred or so yards away. Much steeper and it would be a sheer drop.

So take one more deep breath, step forward off the platform - and surrender yourself to the exhilarating rush…

This is one of the three zip wires at Bluestone. Part of the Steep Ravine high ropes course, a fantastic new activity and a sensory experience that accords fully with the Bluestone ethos of creating inspired memories.

Once you’ve whooshed across to the other side of the valley, the challenge continues. For over there lies a high ropes course to test the nerves. It’s perhaps best not to look down as you inch your way across the cables from platform to platform, because the woodland floor is, in places, some 60 feet below you.

The high ropes course is not for the faint of heart. Even though safety is absolutely paramount, your nerves will be tested and your co-ordination tried. But without the challenge there would be no sense of achievement. Without the fear there would nothing to overcome.

Bluestone lies within a national park and conservation is at the heart our ethos. Bush craft is about learning to live in, and have a respect for, this natural environment. Our fun sessions will bring you closer to nature and encourage you to be more resourceful with the natural woodland that surrounds you. Learn to combine skills like fire making, foraging and open air cooking, with other outdoor pursuits such as shelter building and wildlife-watching. You’ll come away with a healthy respect for the countryside and hopefully enjoy a cup of nettle tea.

< High Ropes  |   Camp Smokey >

Camp Smokey lies over a rugged wooden bridge and sits on an island with the babbling Pen Glyn Brook coursing by it on either side. It is the perfect venue to watch your friends and family in the tree canopy on the high ropes courses and flying overhead on the zip wires.

Central to this covered camp is the camp fire where our chef will produce lunches of bangers spicy beans and jacket potatoes and snacks of bacon rolls, hot dogs, toasted tea cakes – all smoked of course. It is a unique set up in a truly stunning location.

< Base Camp  |   Woodland Warriors >

Woodland Warriors is like paintball but without the paint and without the pain. It fires lasers and all hits are recorded. The woodland arena is set at the top of Steep Ravine in a dedicated wooded area. There are hides, ditches, bivouacs, and of course yours and your opponents camp. Our own instructors will guide you through different games and challenges. Be prepared to get down and dirty with our mud.
